A Warm and Caring Preschool for Early Childhood Education
Abacus Preschool is close to Lichfield city centre in Staffordshire, providing a warm, friendly and caring environment to welcome children and their families from all over Lichfield and the surrounding areas.
Experienced and Qualified Staff
Our team are highly trained and experienced in early childhood education, ensuring that each child receives the best possible care. We provide a high staff:child ratio with a maximum of 20 children in each session.
Engaging Learning Environment
We aim to stimulate and encourage each child to learn a range of skills to help them learn and develop through play, and to achieve their full potential working closely with parents and careers in these vital early years. We provide a wide range of inspiring activities to enhance the development and education of all our children using the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Focus on Social and Emotional Development
We prioritize the social and emotional development of each child, fostering positive relationships, self-confidence, and empathy towards others.
Opening Times
- Mon – Fri
- 09:15 am – 02:45 pm
- Sat – Sun
- Closed
Children may attend a combination of sessions, including lunch club (12:15 pm - 12:45 pm), subject to availability.
Session Fees
£7.50 per hour until the term after the child’s third birthday. Fees are then fully Government funded.
We also accept Think2-funded children.
Additional funding may be available for 2-4 year olds.

Our Governance
Abacus Preschool is administered by a voluntary committee and is a not-for-profit organisation.
Our Place in Lichfield City
We have several active links within the community - for example, with St Michael’s Church and Lichfield Library - frequently arranging visits to provide the children with experience of their local community.
